ADHD is a family thing! There are many S-words that come to mind when trying to describe living in a family with ADHD. Significant distress and challenges are just few of them. Day to day life has been described by all household members as unpredictable, exhausting, or ridden with chaos and conflict due to ADHD challenges and behaviors. These issues are compounded when comorbidity such as Autism, or Tourette’s exists with ADHD. The resultant multidimensional stressors amplify and create unique needs for all individuals in the household.
Through necessity and commitment, parents of kids with comorbid neurodiversity end up creating their own center of excellence within their family and community, to ensure their kids get the resources and the support they (and the entire family) needs. In this presentation, nationally recognized speakers Jane Indergaard and Jeremy Didier will guide parents of households with ADHD and its comorbidities through the Four-S’s to illustrate the unique amplified challenges of managing comorbid neurodiversity. The presenters will share the best tools, targeted strategies, and parenting approaches to assist families to create their own evidence informed care team.
