Educational Advocacy Project Is LaunchedBy Pam Esser, Executive Director Our dream is becoming reality! As you may know, we are the recipients of a grant from the Brown Foundation to fund an advocacy project. After a lot of planning, we are close to kickoff. Rachel Beard, who has served as a chapter leader, as a board member, and as our educational rights representative, has recently begun her new position as Advocacy Coordinator and will serve to administrate this program. Our goal is to train parents to better advocate for their children. Rachel will be available to work with parents concerning ARD meetings, educational laws, accommodations, etc. Some of her contacts will be through phone calls and email, and additionally, trainings will be offered. Our first workshop training will take place in Houston in September. Area ADDA-SR members will receive a brochure. If you would like to have a workshop in your area or are in need of help, you can reach Rachel at 903-238-8548 or rebeard@cablelynx.com. We are very excited to be given this opportunity to offer such an important service to those in our ADHD community. For the complete article, become a member and receive our newsletter.
